GWO Manual Handling Training

GWO Manual Handling Training Course Overview

The aim of this module is to encourage positive manual handling behaviour and train delegates ability to perform manual handling tasks in a safe manner in the wind turbine industry/WTG (Wind Turbine Generator) environment.
For those who require both Manual Handling and Working at Height, we offer the following combined course: GWO Working at Height and Manual Handling

Course Content:

At the end of the module, delegates should be able to do the following:

  • - Demonstrate understanding of the importance of carrying out work duties in a safe and sound manner in accordance with the legislative requirements of their geographic work location.
  • - Identify aspects of their job tasks that could increase their risk of developing muscular/skeletal injuries.
  • - Demonstrate understanding of safe practices of manual handling, including the correct handling of equipment.
  • - Identify signs and symptoms of injuries related to poor manual handling techniques and have knowledge of reporting methods.
  • - Demonstrate a problem-solving approach to manual handling in a wind turbine environment.
  • - Demonstrate manual handling risk reduction techniques.

Virtual Reality Training:

Integrated as a cutting-edge, optional training enhancement, the short VR simulator gives both new starts and experienced workers in the industry the chance to experience working at height in an onshore turbine.
Our simulated environment will allow the delegate to experience hands on the turbine architecture, moving up and down the turbine as well as all the safety practices required prior to working at height. Users will experience as close to real life as possible, a truly immersive feeling of working at height, operating the safety equipment and checking and utilising PPE.
Finally, users will also experience potential hazards they may encounter in a real life turbine and will be required to take the necessary actions to limit and remove the hazard and then safely perform an emergency egress from the nacelle.
The virtual reality working at height experience is an optional training enhancement to your GWO working at height booking. Delegates do not need to take part in the experience, and it is only offered should the delegate wish to participate.

Entry Requirements:

Candidates must be fit and able to complete all aspects of training.

Certification on completion

All delegates are issued with a GWO Approved Manual Handling certificate.
